Located in Dearborn County, Indiana, Lawrenceburg is a city situated on the banks of the Ohio River. Lawrenceburg is currently the largest city in Dearborn County and serves as the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lawrenceburg had a population of approximately 4,977 people in 2014.
The land on which Lawrenceburg sits was purchased by Captain Samuel C. Vance in 1801. One year later, Vance left Cincinnati, Ohio and proceeded to survey and plat the town site of Lawrenceburg. The first house built in Lawrenceburg was constructed by Dr. Jabez Percival in 1802. Since its humble beginnings, Lawrenceburg has grown and matured into the beautiful city that it is today.
Lawrenceburg is home to the Lawrenceburg Community Center, Lawrenceburg Public Library, the Dearborn Adult Center, Ivy Tech Community College and an attractive downtown filled with many shopping and dining options.
